While pine trees are common in North Carolina, most people do not realize how useful they are. Native Americans taught early European settlers how to use the needles, bark, and sap in a variety of ways. Today, pine needles can still be used in the garden, for making crafts, for a variety of ailments, and even as a food source. Join Vickie Jeffries, Tribal Administrator for the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation, for a presentation of basket weaving and the making of salves and teas.
