Mystery Token Hike

August 3, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Every first Saturday, we hike 4-5 miles on serene trails through hardwood forest and meadows at a relatively fast pace, joining all the new life bursting with energy during the spring. August’s hike is at Brumley Forest Nature Preserve.

Three-quarters of the way through our hike, we’ll stop at some tables to show-and-tell our mystery tokens and stories with a tranquil pond in the background.

You are invited to bring something that is associated with your travels or outdoor adventures (past or future), is special to you, and fits in your pocket. It can be an object, a poem, a song, etc. In the spirit of fun and suspense, do not share or reveal before we reach the pond. Bringing something is optional.

Although the trails are well maintained, there will be dirt, roots, and rocks so sturdy closed-toed shoes are highly recommended. We’ll meet at the large parking lot near the information kiosk, 3055 New Hope Church Road. No Dogs, please.

The preserve closes if the trails are too wet. In that case, we will change the location to Johnston Mill Nature Preserve which is a 7-minute drive away. Those who have RSVPs will be notified the night before if this occurs. We’ll go if drizzling or chance of rain, but heavy rain at the start time/location cancels.
