Event Series Event Series: The Abstraction of Form and Figure

The Abstraction of Form and Figure

March 24, 2022

Abstraction of Form and Figure is the second of two two-person shows of work by Cedar Ridge High School International Baccalaureate Senior Art Students at the Gallery. Opening reception March 25, 6-9 pm during Hillsborough’s Last Friday Art Walk. Show runs through March 16, during normal Gallery hours.

From the students:

Aaron Frazier “My intention with my work is to show the representation of humanity’s effect on the earth and each other. The 2 main figures shown throughout most of my artwork promote this message. The purple demonic figure is a representation of the earth, something that is still alive but treated poorly. The yellow humanoid is a representation of the evils in humanity, greedy and self-serving. In my depiction of the two figures, they have a distinctive juxtaposition that echoes the unbalanced relationship between the earth and humanity.“

Hannah Shinnick “My works depict a representation of form or shape. Influenced by contemporary and Abstract Expressionist art, all of my works aim to focus on eye-movement, color, and texture, symbolizing  a visual and harmonious journey art can take through repetition of color and forms. My work strays from tangible subject matter and embraces the fluidity and constant change art has evolved to become.”
