SUMMARY:Historic Hillsborough Guided Tours 2026
DESCRIPTION:Experience American history through the unique perspective of one of North Carolina’s oldest and most historically significant towns\, with a guided walking tour of downtown Hillsborough. Established in 1754 as the seat of government for Orange County\, Hillsborough’s colonial legacy and signs of its importance in North Carolina and American history can be seen everywhere. \nThe tour begins at the Hillsborough Visitors Center\, located in the eighteenth century Alexander Dickson Farm House\, and guides visitors to a variety of historic places from the site of a 1790s African American-owned distillery to the 1840s Orange County Courthouse and the grave of one of North Carolina’s signers of the Declaration of Independence. \nThis is an in-person walking tour that sometimes crosses uneven terrain. Please plan to be walking or standing for the duration of the event\, wear comfortable walking shoes\, and bring a water bottle (plus your curiosity)! \nFor groups that are concerned about the length\, duration\, or terrain of the tour. DESCRIPTION:For beginners\, and for experienced needle felters seeking to refresh or extend their skills. \nConnie will guide you through the basic steps of creating a 3D needle felting project — assembling the correct supplies\, creating the base shape\, adding details and texture\, and finishing – as you create your own unique needle felted goldfish ornament! \nOur small\, intimate group setting allows for individualized attention from an experienced needle felting teacher who looks forward to sharing her joy in this enjoyable\, stress-reducing artform. \nFrom Connie:   \nI’m a fiber artist specializing in wool needle felting\, a craft I’ve been practicing for the past 10 years. What began as a creative outlet has become something much more meaningful to me. I find the process of working with wool to be both therapeutic and deeply enjoyable.  \nThere’s something special about taking a simple handful of wool and patiently transforming it into something beautiful. SUMMARY:Flushfest Choir Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:The Color and Light Choir will be singing on September 12 at 2:00 at 2711 Borland Rd in Hillsborough.  This will be a fundraiser supporting the Appropriate Sanitation Institute\, which helps address sewage issues in communities around the world that are lacking.   It’s the same group that puts on Flush Fest\, Hillsborough’s own music festival\, which we will also be sing for in October! \nIn addition to us singing a short set\, there will be a silent auction (including a mead tasting and llama farm experience)\, as crafts and snacks and games.  So we’d love for you to come on out\, hear a little music\, and support a good cause!

SUMMARY:Music at Thornfield Heritage Farm
DESCRIPTION:Unwind and join us for our last event before we close for July and August when the real heat sets in. Chris Cole will entertain us with his amazing voice and guitar. We will have a hay ride and lots of animals for you to visit\, including Valais sheep and lambs\, kunekune pigs\, Nigerian Dwarf goats\, Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs\, Endangered Breeds of waterfowl\, and our most popular\, giant breeds of rabbits and babies that live freely in our orchard. You are welcome to bring your own snacks\, but for your convenience\, we offer inexpensive snacks at our farm store\, including ice-cold beverages\, chilled applesauce pouches\, favorite pre-packaged snacks\, and of course\, Hillsborough’s own Whitt’s ice cream sandwiches!! Gates open at 1:30 pm. \nAfter our hot-weather break\, we will reopen on September 12th with Casey Clark!! Future 2026 events are: 9/19 with Chris Cole\, 10/03 with Casey Clark\, 10/17 with Chris Cole\, and 10/24 with Caleb McArthur & Whiskey Ridge Outlaws.
