SUMMARY:First Fridays at the Mill
DESCRIPTION:FIRST FRIDAYS AT THE MILL\nFRIDAY\, JUNE 6 | 7-9PM | FREE & OPEN TO ALL\nOpen artist studios with the Eno Arts Mill Studio Artists\nLocal food truck La Republica Tacos\nLive music from Tre. Charles\nBeer from Ponysaurus Brewing\, wine\, and NA beer selections\nFree Art-making Activities for all ages with Mer Haggerty \nLiberation\nFeaturing Tiffney Marley\n\nWith Guest Artists: Michael Brown\, Reginald Chandler\, Andrea Degette\, Cathy Gilliard\, Tom Guthrie\, Jackie Liggins\, Jennifer Miller\, Denise Page\, Anathea Portier-Young\nABOUT THE SHOW: \nThis show will invoke the spirit of our African ancestors who streamed from the “Cradle of Humanity” and manifested ALL of us into a thriving future despite attempts of annihilation and erasure. Our ancestors vested us with a power that centers love\, joy\, hope\, soul\, determination\, creativity\, dignity\, and shared humanity. It is this power that will indeed help us to navigate the complexities of this moment and enable us to gaze upon and manifest a flourishing\, liberated future for all. With this in mind\, the show will be a mixed-media installation aimed to inspire hope\, human connection and ultimately heal hearts and minds. In the spirit of Sankofa\, “Liberation” will draw on the wisdom of the past\, to inform the complexities of the present\, and ultimately illuminate a future that is inevitable if we stay the course. \nABOUT THE MUSIC\nTre. Charles: The nomadic\, self-taught\, soul searching troubadour has effectively and dynamically been able to disassemble the idea of an artist needing to be accredited to be accomplished. With an old soul and a fresh perspective\, he has cultivated soundscapes and wave therapy on some of the musical worlds biggest stages such as Newport Jazz Festival\, TEDx\, and NPR while simultaneously staying steadfast in his belief of authentic quality over quantity; and it is with that stance that Charles has acquired cosigns from the likes of GRAMMY AWARD winning artists such as Son Little\, Cedric Burnside\, and Hip-Hop legends Digable Planets and Arrested Development; of which he has been direct support on a string of sold out shows. The D’angelico Guitars and Supro endorsed Charles’s inquisitive introspection has caught the attention of over 300k listeners across streaming platforms; not to mention the countless listeners he has captivated at venues\, festivals\, and conferences. His unique sonics have entertained and helped heal those who have listened\, and Charles plans to continue that standard with his newest EP\, “Here We Are.”\, ushering in a new era; elevating his artistry and vision to new heights once again.

SUMMARY:*254th Annual Regulator Remembrance Event*
DESCRIPTION:The 254th Annual Regulator Remembrance Day Event will take place Thursday\, June 19\, at 6 p.m.\, at the Regulator Historic Marker site in Cameron Park\, 200 E. King St.\, Hillsborough. \nThis year’s event marks the 2534th anniversary of the date on June 19\, 1771 when six early American patriots were executed at the site by English colonial Governor William Tryon on the charge of High Treason against the King of England for questioning English colonial authority as part of the Regulator Rebellion. \nA mammoth stone slab was placed at the site in the late 18th/early 19th century as a marker. Since 1771\, descendants and the general public have quietly visited the site to lay flowers there in remembrance of those brave patriots. That tradition has continued for over 250 years. \nMore formal commemoration events were revived again in 2013 by Scott Washington\, former Assistant Director of the Orange County Historical Museum and Hillsborough Historian. The annual Regulator Remembrance Event is a way for descendants and all who care about this history to intentionally remember these early patriots. \nThe 254th anniversary ceremonies will include introduction of special guests\, historical remarks\, reading of the names of those who were executed on this date\, a tolling of the bell\, followed by a chance for the public to bring and lay flowers at the Regulator Marker just as people have done for more than 250 years. \nRepresentatives of Alamance Battleground Historic Site\, elected officials\, descendants of the original Regulators\, and many others are also expected to be present at this popular event. \nThe event is free and open to the public.

SUMMARY:Art Opening! The Little Market Presents "Fragile Light\,
" works by Holden Richards & Jessica Poland
DESCRIPTION:The Little Market\, Hillsborough’s new satellite gallery by the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts\, is proud to present Fragile Light\, an exhibition of works by photographer Holden Richards and painter/printmaker Jessica Poland. The opening reception will be held Friday\, June 27th from 6-9pm. \nA native North Carolinian\, Holden Richards works exclusively with large format film cameras\, many over a century old. His images—captured along the creeks and rivers of Orange and Durham counties—are printed using historic processes such as Kallitype and salt printing. With a meditative eye and a deep reverence for the natural world\, Richards’ work offers viewers an intimate and timeless connection to place. \nJessica Poland uses monoprinting and casein painting to explore the beauty and fragility of the environment. Her luminous works are inspired by memories of nature in her native Indiana and decades spent in North Carolina’s Piedmont. Mysterious marks\, textured surfaces\, and the interplay of light and color speak to her fascination with the living world and our relationship to it. \nTogether\, Richards and Poland invite visitors to slow down\, look closely\, and rediscover the subtle landmarks that shape our sense of place. \nThe Little Market is located at 118 N. Churton Street within Hillsborough Real Estate Group\, and is open Fridays 2-6pm\, Saturdays 12–4pm\, and Last Fridays 6-9pm. Fragile Light will be on view from June 19th through August 19th\, 2025. For more information\, visit www.hillsboroughgallery.com/the-little-market.
