DESCRIPTION:Experience American history through the unique perspective of one of North Carolina’s oldest and most historically significant towns\, with a guided walking tour of downtown Hillsborough. Established in 1754 as the seat of government for Orange County\, Hillsborough’s colonial legacy and signs of its importance in North Carolina and American history can be seen everywhere. \nThe tour begins at the Hillsborough Visitors Center\, located in the eighteenth century Alexander Dickson Farm House\, and guides visitors to a variety of historic places from the site of a 1790s African American-owned distillery to the 1840s Orange County Courthouse and the grave of one of North Carolina’s signers of the Declaration of Independence. \nThis is an in-person walking tour that sometimes crosses uneven terrain. Please plan to be walking or standing for the duration of the event\, wear comfortable walking shoes\, and bring a water bottle (plus your curiosity)! \nFor groups that are concerned about the length\, duration\, or terrain of the tour. SUMMARY:Camp Chestnut Ridge Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Chestnut Ridge on November 22\, 2025 for our Annual Trail Run! We have a 4 mile option for runners/walkers of all ages\, and an 8 miles option for runner only. Come join the fun!\nProceeds from the race will benefit ministries at camp such as the Chestnut Ridge Campership Fund which helps provide scholarships for children and youth in financial need\, so that they can have positive camp experiences at Chestnut Ridge. By running in the race\, you can help send a kid to camp this summer! The race will be run entirely on trails and camp roads (dirt and gravel). The course will feature rolling hills through old hardwood forests and go around a 10 acre lake. Water stations will be provided.

DESCRIPTION:Each year St. Matthews Episcopal Church celebrates the many talents of our parishioners at our holiday craft fair\, bake sale\, and BBQ lunch known as the Festival of the Society Tree (FeST). FeST 2026 will be on Saturday\, December 6th from 10am- 2p at St. Matthews Episcopal Church. This event is named in honor of the efforts of the ladies sewing society who in 1867 used what was then a novelty\, the Christmas tree\, as a way to sell their wonderful handiwork in the community. The Society raised funds for much of the architectural additions and furnishing that still grace our historic church building. Today all proceeds from FeST go to help people in need in Orange and Durham counties through donations to local non-profit organizations. Please come shop for holiday gifts\, fill your table with delicious baked goods\, sit down at the table with us to enjoy a BBQ lunch\, and tour our historic church sanctuary.  All are welcome!

DESCRIPTION:Experience American history through the unique perspective of one of North Carolina’s oldest and most historically significant towns\, with a guided walking tour of downtown Hillsborough. Established in 1754 as the seat of government for Orange County\, Hillsborough’s colonial legacy and signs of its importance in North Carolina and American history can be seen everywhere. \nThe tour begins at the Hillsborough Visitors Center\, located in the eighteenth century Alexander Dickson Farm House\, and guides visitors to a variety of historic places from the site of a 1790s African American-owned distillery to the 1840s Orange County Courthouse and the grave of one of North Carolina’s signers of the Declaration of Independence. \nThis is an in-person walking tour that sometimes crosses uneven terrain. Please plan to be walking or standing for the duration of the event\, wear comfortable walking shoes\, and bring a water bottle (plus your curiosity)! \nFor groups that are concerned about the length\, duration\, or terrain of the tour. DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the Open Farm Day at Firefly Farm . Saturday\, April 4\, 2026\, 8 am till 6 pm. This free event is the perfect opportunity to see what we are growing. We are a U-pick flower farm growing many varieties of flowers. Come out and wander the farm and pet the animals. \nSchedule of Events for Open Farm Day at Firefly Farm \nNo ticket needed – free event\, open to the public \n8 am – Gates open. Farmer Cindy and staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. Wander the farm – be our guest! While the wildflowers are not ready for the U-pick season yet\, this is a great time to see what the farm has to offer. Select flowers will be available for purchase and we may have a special opportunity for U-pick tulips. Park at the barn or in the overflow lot (follow the yellow signs). Check in at the barn to begin your adventure (map available). Walk the labyrinth. Say hello to the farm animals and the unicorn. Swing on the farm swing. Touch a tractor. Find a hammock and take a nap while the kids make a craft. Enjoy the fresh air and run around outside. Make it your day. \nSpecial activity: Farm tours will occur at 10 am\, noon\, 2 pm and 4 pm. Meet Farmer Cindy at the barn and she will lead you around some of the flower gardens and discuss what is happening on the farm. Feel free to ask questions. During the 10 am and 4 pm tours\, we will feed the animals! \nVendors will be on site. Plan on buying some delicious food and sweets\, finding your favorite spot on the farm\, and having a picnic on a beautiful Spring day! \n6 pm – Gates close.
