DESCRIPTION:Family fun for kids of all ages – thrills and frights await you as you enter the Witch’s Haunted Barn. A whimsical look at Halloween – fun for kids of all ages. Candy for every child at the end of the barn (if you survive!) and a pumpkin patch so you can pick out your perfect pumpkin! \nWitch Hazel has been busy conjuring up all sorts of spirits\, and the Haunted Barn has it all: A coffin fitting room\, complete with outfits for your eternal rest\, a graveyard full of unsettled souls\, Aliens\, First and Last Aid with a Mad Doctor\, Spiders\, spiders\, and more spiders\, Creepy Dolls\, a haunted nursery – ring around a rosie\, pocket full of posies…\, a fire swamp\, a coffin in the kitchen where the Kitchen Crone is whipping up delectable goodies\, Skellies everywhere\, The Butcher’s room\, Hallway of Horrors (and clowns)\, the Vault\, the Dungeon\, a Witches Coven and so much more. \nIn addition to the barn: See the horses\, donkeys\, goats and chickens. Spend time walking around the farm on our trails – the Pond Walk and Pasture walk and the labyrinth are open! Enjoy food and crafts from our vendors\, make a craft\, and pick out your perfect pumpkin from our patch.  It’s a wonderful way to spend a Saturday in the Fall. \nPhotography and Costumes are encouraged. Virtual tickets available in the farm’s online store\, good for any Saturday in October (rain or shine). Gates open at 11 am and the barn is open from noon till 7 pm.  The twilight hours we added this year will be fun for those that like things a little more spooky!

DESCRIPTION:Experience American history through the unique perspective of one of North Carolina’s oldest and most historically significant towns\, with a guided walking tour of downtown Hillsborough. Established in 1754 as the seat of government for Orange County\, Hillsborough’s colonial legacy and signs of its importance in North Carolina and American history can be seen everywhere. \nThe tour begins at the Hillsborough Visitors Center\, located in the eighteenth century Alexander Dickson Farm House\, and guides visitors to a variety of historic places from the site of a 1790s African American-owned distillery to the 1840s Orange County Courthouse and the grave of one of North Carolina’s signers of the Declaration of Independence. \nThis is an in-person walking tour that sometimes crosses uneven terrain. Please plan to be walking or standing for the duration of the event\, wear comfortable walking shoes\, and bring a water bottle (plus your curiosity)! \nFor groups that are concerned about the length\, duration\, or terrain of the tour. DESCRIPTION:Join us for this fascinating walking tour and discover the stories behind the sixteen historical markers that line four blocks of one of the Piedmont’s oldest streets. They start in the 1600s and go right through to the 1960s. The FULL stories behind the people and events depicted briefly on the markers are often much more interesting than might be supposed. In just two hours\, you’ll hear about all 16\, and even visit some of the subjects in the town cemetery. Along the way you’ll meet surveyors\, merchants\, generals\, governors\, lawyers\, scientists\, enslaved people\, and much more. \nIt turns out the “cute” little town of Hillsborough has had a very outsized impact on Orange County\, North Carolina\, the United States\, and even the world. \nTours start at 10:00 AM\, we will meet at the Arch across the street from Weaver Street Market (228 S. We are a U-pick flower farm\, growing many varieties of flowers. Come out and wander the farm and pet the animals.  \nSchedule of Events for Open Farm Day at Firefly Farm  \nNo ticket needed – free event\, open to the public  \n8 am – Gates open. Farmer Cindy and staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. Wander the farm – be our guest! While the wildflowers are not ready for the U-pick season yet\, this is a great time to see what the farm has to offer. Select flowers will be available for purchase and we may have a special opportunity for U-pick tulips. Park at the barn or in the overflow lot (follow the yellow signs). Check in at the barn to begin your adventure (map available). Walk the labyrinth. Say hello to the farm animals and the unicorn. Swing on the farm swing. Touch a tractor. Find a hammock and take a nap while the kids make a craft. Enjoy the fresh air and run around outside. Make it your day.  \nSpecial activity: Farm tours will occur at 10 am\, noon\, 2 pm and 4 pm. Meet Farmer Cindy at the barn and she will lead you around some of the flower gardens and discuss what is happening on the farm. Feel free to ask questions. DESCRIPTION:The Hillsborough Garden Club\, founded in 1925\, is celebrating with a centennial garden tour showcasing 10 private gardens. Six of the gardens are attached to 100-year-old or older homes. The other gardens evoke a sense of history with their plants and garden designs. There are three public gardens on the tour that are maintained with the help of garden club members. \nHere is a preview of what awaits you on the tour: \n\nIn the backyard\, a serene water feature is surrounded by a diverse collection of perennials…\nRemnants of the original beds along the 180 foot flagstone walkway in the front yard\, making some of the flowering peonies over 130 years old…\nA haven for family heirlooms\, native and nativar perennials\, self seeded annuals\, thousands of bulbs\, woody shrubs and trees…\nMixture of perennial\, woodland and cottage garden plantings along with a kitchen garden\, pergola and arbor…\nThe garden is alive with birds\, bees\, butterflies\, the occasional rabbit\, shy lizards and noisy frogs (plus some surprising nocturnal visitors)…\nLook for the wattle fence\, aged storage shed and the Taj mahal chicken coop…\nThe greenhouse\, made with old windows\, is a working space to house citrus in the winter and seed starting which supports the cutting garden.\n\nBuy tickets here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/hillsborough-garden-tour–2025 \nEleven of the properties are within a 3 mile radius in Downtown Hillsborough.
