DESCRIPTION:Unwind and join us for our last event before we close for July and August when the real heat sets in. Chris Cole will entertain us with his amazing voice and guitar. We will have a hay ride and lots of animals for you to visit\, including Valais sheep and lambs\, kunekune pigs\, Nigerian Dwarf goats\, Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs\, Endangered Breeds of waterfowl\, and our most popular\, giant breeds of rabbits and babies that live freely in our orchard. You are welcome to bring your own snacks\, but for your convenience\, we offer inexpensive snacks at our farm store\, including ice-cold beverages\, chilled applesauce pouches\, favorite pre-packaged snacks\, and of course\, Hillsborough’s own Whitt’s ice cream sandwiches!! Gates open at 1:30 pm. \nAfter our hot-weather break\, we will reopen on September 12th with Casey Clark!! Future 2026 events are: 9/19 with Chris Cole\, 10/03 with Casey Clark\, 10/17 with Chris Cole\, and 10/24 with Caleb McArthur & Whiskey Ridge Outlaws.

You are welcome to bring your own snacks\, but for your convenience\, we offer inexpensive snacks at our farm store\, including ice-cold beverages\, chilled applesauce pouches\, favorite pre-packaged snacks\, and of course\, Hillsborough’s own Whitt’s ice cream sandwiches!! Gates open at 1:30 pm. \nAfter our hot-weather break\, we will reopen on September 12th with Casey Clark!! King Street\, 27278)\, for an afternoon of Vaudeville\, Burlesque\, and Vintage Pin-Up themed art models. Artists provide their own supplies. \nThis event is open to everyone who is interested in Live Model Figure Drawing. **All skill levels** are invited to come relax with us and enjoy an afternoon with a variety of models in interesting\, dimensional\, texture-filled costumes and accessories. SAF offers a very cozy\, comfortable space. The Bottom Line Burlesque & Comedy Troupe will provide the model(s) as well as the time moderator. SUMMARY:Burwell School Historic Site Homecoming & 50th Anniversary Celebration
DESCRIPTION:The Burwell School of Hillsborough was in operation from 1837 to 1857. It educated the girls of wealthy white families\, including the Camerons\, the Easleys\, and the Mangums. The site was worked by dozens of people of color\, both free and enslaved. The most famous among them was Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley\, who went on to purchase her own freedom and become a dressmaker (and close friend) to First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln. On Saturday\, October 3\, the Burwell School Historic Site will open its doors to descendants for a “homecoming” event. The semicentennial (50th anniversary) of the historic site’s 1976 dedication will also be recognized\, honoring the work of BSHS’s many staff\, volunteers\, and supporters. Come experience local food\, music\, guest speakers\, and plenty of history!
