Disaster has struck in Hillsborough… \nThe food meant for our next PORCH Hillsborough distribution was accidentally scattered all across Historic Downtown Hillsborough! \nTo help PORCH Hillsborough feed our neighbors facing hunger\, we need a team of clever explorers\, puzzle-solvers\, and community heroes to help us gather it all up. \nWelcome to PORCH Hillsborough Food Rescue: An Amazing Adventure\, a scavenger hunt meets Amazing Race-style challenge through beautiful downtown Hillsborough. \nTeams will complete fun challenges at locations around town\, racing to recover the “lost food items” needed for our monthly distribution. \nAlong the way you’ll:\n🏃 Race to locations around downtown\n🧩 Complete challenges\n🥫 Recover “food” items\n❤️ Help fight hunger in Orange County \nAll proceeds support PORCH Hillsborough\, which provides food to over 650 local families each month. That’s over 2\,600 people experiencing food insecurity right here in Orange County. \nThe families we serve are counting on us. And now we’re counting on you. \nGather your friends\, family\, coworkers\, or neighbors and join us for an afternoon of adventure\, teamwork\, and community impact. \nTogether\, we can rescue the food and help feed our neighbors. \nWhat to Expect:\nThe scavenger hunt route is approximately 1.5 miles along sidewalk\, making it a fun and manageable adventure for most participants. \n📍 Starting Location:\nVisitor’s Center: 150 E. DESCRIPTION:The Little Market is pleased to present Visions\, a new two-person show featuring the expressive watercolor work of Beth Bale and William Schaefer. \nBeth Bale brings her deep love of nature to life in expressive watercolor. A self-taught artist and teacher\, Beth captures animals\, florals\, and landscapes with fluidity and experimentation. Her work reflects a playful and curious approach to the medium of watercolor\, rooted in the rhythms of her life on a 12-acre farm. \nWilliam Schaefer paints visual stories shaped by memory\, emotion\, and quiet reflection. Working in watercolor and mixed media\, his luminous compositions blend strong value contrast and rich color to evoke connection. Each painting invites the viewer to slow down and rediscover the emotional undertones of the everyday. \nTogether\, Schaefer and Bale explore the spaces where feeling\, nature\, and narrative meet. \nThe Little Market is an exciting new collaboration between the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts and the Hillsborough Real Estate Group\, providing exhibit space for local and emerging artists and handmade giftable items by NC crafters. Admission is free and all works are available for purchase.

DESCRIPTION:The Little Market\, Hillsborough’s new satellite gallery by the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts\, is proud to present Fragile Light\, an exhibition of works by photographer Holden Richards and painter/printmaker Jessica Poland. The opening reception will be held Friday\, June 27th from 6-9pm. \nA native North Carolinian\, Holden Richards works exclusively with large format film cameras\, many over a century old. His images—captured along the creeks and rivers of Orange and Durham counties—are printed using historic processes such as Kallitype and salt printing. With a meditative eye and a deep reverence for the natural world\, Richards’ work offers viewers an intimate and timeless connection to place. \nJessica Poland uses monoprinting and casein painting to explore the beauty and fragility of the environment. Her luminous works are inspired by memories of nature in her native Indiana and decades spent in North Carolina’s Piedmont. Mysterious marks\, textured surfaces\, and the interplay of light and color speak to her fascination with the living world and our relationship to it. \nTogether\, Richards and Poland invite visitors to slow down\, look closely\, and rediscover the subtle landmarks that shape our sense of place. \nThe Little Market is located at 118 N. Churton Street within Hillsborough Real Estate Group\, and is open Fridays 2-6pm\, Saturdays 12–4pm\, and Last Fridays 6-9pm. Fragile Light will be on view from June 19th through August 19th\, 2025. SUMMARY:2024 Homes for the Holidays: A Hillsborough Gingerbread Tradition
DESCRIPTION:The annual walking tour of unconventional gingerbread exhibits returns to Hillsborough’s downtown shop windows this holiday season from December 7 to January 5.  The event celebrates artistic sculpture: creations can be made of any material as long as the visible elements are edible. The public is invited to submit creative interpretations of this year’s theme\, “Winter Wonderland” within the Adult or Youth & Family categories; registration is open Nov. 1-27. Voting for People’s Choice Awards will take place through Dec 20 and winners will be announced at the town’s Solstice Lantern Walk on Dec 21.
