DESCRIPTION:The Little Market\, Hillsborough’s new satellite gallery by the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts\, is proud to present Fragile Light\, an exhibition of works by photographer Holden Richards and painter/printmaker Jessica Poland. The opening reception will be held Friday\, June 27th from 6-9pm. \nA native North Carolinian\, Holden Richards works exclusively with large format film cameras\, many over a century old. His images—captured along the creeks and rivers of Orange and Durham counties—are printed using historic processes such as Kallitype and salt printing. With a meditative eye and a deep reverence for the natural world\, Richards’ work offers viewers an intimate and timeless connection to place. \nJessica Poland uses monoprinting and casein painting to explore the beauty and fragility of the environment. Her luminous works are inspired by memories of nature in her native Indiana and decades spent in North Carolina’s Piedmont. Mysterious marks\, textured surfaces\, and the interplay of light and color speak to her fascination with the living world and our relationship to it. \nTogether\, Richards and Poland invite visitors to slow down\, look closely\, and rediscover the subtle landmarks that shape our sense of place. \nThe Little Market is located at 118 N. Churton Street within Hillsborough Real Estate Group\, and is open Fridays 2-6pm\, Saturdays 12–4pm\, and Last Fridays 6-9pm. Fragile Light will be on view from June 19th through August 19th\, 2025. DESCRIPTION:The Orange County Optimist Club invites you to HOG DAY 2024! A family festival of fun in downtown Hillsborough in beautiful River Park. \nThe festival has been running since 1983 and raises funds for youth programs and services throughout the county. As the county’s largest and oldest event\, we feature a BBQ contest\, arts and craft vendors\, car show\, children’s area and much more in historic downtown Hillsborough. Held in mid-September\, we have been featured year after year as one of the top events in the southeast and the country. We encourage you to come and visit\, inquire about being a vendor\, and explore our downtown. \nThe highlight of the festival is the BBQ. Veteran cooking teams will be competing for top honors. \nOur festival includes: \n\nLive music\nLocal handmade crafts & gifts\nLocal food and drink vendors\nHog Day 5K\nClassic Car Show\nPigs on Parade\nChildren’s Area\n…and more!
