Art for LGBTQ+ Rights

This class is a space dedicated to LGBTQ+ people’s existence, resistance, processing, play, learning, and creativity. We have always existed, we are here now, we will always exist. LGBTQ+ artists are vital to the arts and larger society. You do not have to consider yourself an “artist” or “good” at art to join this class.

All supplies are provided. If you prefer to work on digital art, please bring a laptop/tablet/phone.

This class is open to LGBTQ+ people and allies.

In this mixed-media class we will:

+Discuss art that deals with topics of identity, past/present/future, culture, and politics
+Explore LGBTQ+ art outlets and support groups
+Show how to submit socially engaged art
+Engage in the creative process of making art related to LGBTQ+ identities and experiences, from concept to final piece
+Value LGBTQ+ people’s identities and experiences, and the importance of LGBTQ+ artists
