Noir at the Bar Brings Acclaimed Crime Writers to Downtown Hillsborough on April 9

HILLSBOROUGH, NC (April 2026) — Visitors and locals alike are invited to experience an evening of bold storytelling and Southern atmosphere as Noir at the Bar returns to Yonder: Southern Cocktails and Brew (114 W King Street) on Wednesday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m.

Held in the heart of downtown Hillsborough, this quarterly event has become a signature cultural offering, blending the town’s vibrant arts scene with its welcoming, small-town charm. Hosted by author and Yonder co-owner Eryk Pruitt, Noir at the Bar features eight crime fiction writers performing live readings of their most compelling and entertaining work.

Since launching in 2019, Noir at the Bar has drawn audiences from across the Triangle and beyond, with past appearances by notable authors including Jill McCorkle, David Joy, and S. A. Cosby. The event offers visitors a chance to engage directly with working writers in an intimate, lively setting that reflects Hillsborough’s creative spirit.

“We have been fortunate enough to have some crazy things go down on Yonder’s stage,” said Pruitt. “Noir at the Bar is usually some of the most memorable. I can’t wait to hear what people will be talking about next week.”

Located steps from Hillsborough’s historic districts, galleries, and restaurants, Yonder provides a relaxed, welcoming environment often described as “Hillsborough’s living room.” For this event, the bar will feature specially paired cocktails to complement the evening’s readings.
