*Bill of Rights Day Community Bell Ringing Event*

The 10th annual Bill of Rights Day Community Bell Ringing event will take place on Bill of Rights Day, Thursday, December 15th, from 12:00PM Noon to 12:03:51PM in Hillsborough’s historic district to mark the 231st anniversary of when the first ten amendments became part of the U. S. Constitution, the ones we call the Bill of Rights. The event takes place from 12:00PM Noon for 231 seconds (3 minutes, 51 seconds) in honor of the 231st anniversary of when the first ten amendments became part of the U. S. Constitution on December 15, 1791, the ones we call the Bill of Rights. Bells will ring from historic church belfries, historic sites, and the public is invited to “bring bells, ring bells” in front of the historic 1845 courthouse (104 East King Street, Hillsborough, NC 27278) at 12:00PM Noon, too. The event is free, fun, festive, family friendly and short, lasting less than four minutes,  There are no speeches, no parades. just the sound of bells ringing continuously and simultaneously for 231 seconds, giving new meaning to the age old refrain, “Let Freedom Ring.” The event is non partisan and open to all!
