Gardens of Serenity is the first of two two-person shows of work by Cedar Ridge High School International Baccalaureate Senior Art Students. Opening reception February 25, 6-9 pm during Hillsborough’s Last Friday Art Walk. Show runs through March 16, during normal Gallery hours.

From the students:

Artist Statement – Madison Swain:

Within my artwork, I intend to capture the tranquility of the natural world through my depictions of organic life. I explore the relationship between man-made and natural creations, while focusing on form, magnified scale, and mood. The “soft” and “still” nature of my works represent the unity of man and the environment, as well as the gratitude I have for the outdoors.

Artist Statement – Kate DaSilva:

Through my artwork, I explore ways to capture depth in different abstract mediums. I use unnaturalistic colors, bold movements, and a variety of textures to portray the beauty that surrounds me. The many layers in my work signify the deep-rooted importance of our natural environment.
