Outdoor Dining

When you’re in Hillsborough and you’re hungry there’s no need to look very far to find something to satisfy even the biggest appetite. Around every corner something delicious waits, and often with outdoor dining options!

The Wooden Nickel has been the neighborhood pub of Hillsborough since 2003, featuring some of the best characters and the best wings that you’ll find anywhere around. The large outdoor sidewalk seating area is great for good times with good friends- but also great for enjoying a meal with your furry friend beside you!

Radius Pizzeria & Pub is a husband and wife owned and operated local restaurant serving up fresh, handmade pizzas, salads, paninis, and pasta dishes, with many of the ingredients being sourced within a 250 mile RADIUS of Hillsborough, NC. It also has a large outdoor patio, for both you and your canine companion.

Other spots in Hillsborough for you and Spot are:

  • Antonia’s, which features a delicious variety of fresh made pastas, seafood dishes, and entrees made in an old world Italian style, complete with sidewalk tables.
  • Hot Tin Roof, a laid-back local bar with a large outdoor area featuring giant Connect-4, domino’s, corn hole, oversized checkerboards, and a designated dog yard.
  • Weaver Street Market, a grocery store co-op that offers a hot bar for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is also conveniently located by Hillsborough’s free parking deck and a Riverwalk entrance. It also has a large patio area with plenty of seating.

Paws at the Corner

Paws at the Corner is Hillsborough’s local natural pet supply store and self-service doggie spa. They offer fun gifts, unique collars and leashes, and healthy food and treats. Stop by for all that your pup could ever need, and say hi to the four-legged employees!

Take a trip to the park

Gold Park, Hillsborough’s 24-acre park located along Dimmocks Mill Road, has a multi-purpose field, a playground, picnic structures, around 0.5 miles of the Riverwalk, and a dog park!

The Riverwalk is a paved, ADA accessible, urban greenway along the Eno River that stretches nearly 2 miles from Gold Park through West Hillsborough and Downtown over to the Occoneechee Speedway property trails. Dogs are welcome along the Riverwalk, open from dusk to dawn! If you want something a little shorter, the Occoneechee Speedway Trail is a 1-mile walk through history that all can enjoy.
